Responsibilities

Worked with developers on Database Design (ERWin 3.5.2) , Database Sizing (comprehensive excel spreadsheets) , Database Performance.  Successfully converted from Oracle 8.0.4  (Sun E3500) to Oracle 8.1.7 (Sun E10000), and Non-Partitioned Tables to Range-Partitioned Tables. 

Defined and Implemented a DDL Management discipline using sccs and home grown scripts.

Defined and Implemented the complete Physical Database layout (200GB), including the disk filesystems (Veritas Volume Manager)

Significant involvement in the establishment of Data Administration Standards.

·              CORBA technology / Object Transaction Monitors (OTM)

An application was looking for OTM functionality, and pursuing a switch from Inprise’ Visibroker to Hitachi’s TPBroker.

Researched Inprise’ Integrated Transaction Service (ITS) and Hitachi’s TPBRoker / HiEM Enterprise Monitoring.

Organized and scheduled a conference call with Gartner Group.

Established that the OTM product set is immature, that while ITS was new and TPBroker was based on mature technology, there wasn’t a clear basis for making a switch.

·              Workflow technology

Introduced Vitria BusinessWare technology into the corporation.

Worked with Neon’s EPE Workflow software during our evaluation.

Participated in sessions involving IBM and MQ Series Workflow.

·              For a Consulting Firm, developed the user interface for a Corp. Self-Insurance Risk Management and Analysis Reporting System.

·              Using SQL*Forms 3.0 and Oracle*Terminal, developed a standardized Function Key and Presentation Interface consisting of over 50 tightly integrated screens and numerous subsidiary screens.

·              For a Supermarket chain:

·              Assisted in the store systems transition from a Production Oracle/Sun Unix Environment to a Production Oracle/IBM RS6000 Unix environment.  Performed Oracle and Unix System Administration functions in the conversion to the RS6000;

·              Established and implemented User Interface standards using the Oracle tool set.  Reworked the existing application to conform to the Interface standards, and developed additional user screens conforming to the standards;

·              Implemented a production database environment, including space allocation and access methods, which balanced ease of maintenance with optimized performance;

·              Facilitated and incorporated changes to the initial database model to account for increased business knowledge.

·              For a Consulting firm:

·              Assisted in the conversion of a Retail Scheduling/Time and Attendance PC-based product from an MS DOS, BASIC environment to a Unix, C, and Oracle platform;

·              Translated the I/O routines from Btrieve/ISAM to C/Embedded SQL.

·              Led a six month Client / Consultant joint development effort of a Service Reporting system for a Company generating approximately $1 Billion in Service Revenues.  This system was designed specifically to address the key issues of end user access, data storage and performance, and report selection flexibility.
